Our hiking highlights around Das Hohe Salve

EASY | 4.2 KM | APPROX. 1:15 H

Directly in Hopfgarten, the G’sundheitsbründlweg leads through forests, meadows, and past small streams. Along the loop, various movement and balance stations provide additional training impulses, while resting places and views create space to catch your breath. The namesake fountain with clear mountain water provides a refreshing break along the way.

Especially as a house trail of Das Hohe Salve the path fits ideally with the Move & Relax philosophy: You determine the pace and intensity yourself and combine light endurance, coordination, and movement in nature into an uncomplicated unit right outside the door. The loop is also suitable for walking and trail running sessions and can be extended if needed.

The loop is also ideal for an active arrival after the journey – for mobilizing, moving through, and first immersion in the mountain world.

Highlight: short paths, variable intensity, and integrated training stations – ideal for an active unit in between.

MEDIUM | 6.1 KM | APPROX. 2:30 H

From the middle station Hopfgarten, the tour first leads to the Hohe Salve reservoir and further to the idyllically located Salvensee. The last section over the south slope demands fitness once more, before at 1,829 meters the summit of the Hohe Salve is reached.

At the top, an impressive panorama opens up over the Kitzbühel Alps and far beyond. Directly at the summit is also the historic Salvenkirchlein, Austria's highest pilgrimage church.

Highlight: Two mountain lakes, a challenging summit ascent, and impressive panoramic views – a varied tour for all who want to combine endurance and mountain experience with each other.

LONG-DISTANCE HIKING | MULTI-DAY

The KAT Walk – Kitzbühel Alps Trail starts directly in Hopfgarten and leads over several daily stages across the Kitzbühel Alps. Alpine pastures, high-altitude trails, mountain ridges, and changing landscapes make each stage a new experience.

On the alpine variant, it goes in six hiking days to St. Ulrich in Pillerseetal – including well-known points such as the Hahnenkamm and the Kitzbüheler Horn. With approximately 113 kilometers and more than 6,000 meters of elevation gain uphill, the trail is aimed at experienced hikers who want to combine endurance, nature, and personal challenge.

Highlight: true long-distance hiking feeling with daily new perspectives – directly from Hopfgarten.

MEDIUM | 15.6 KM | APPROX. 7 H | 1,280 M ELEVATION

The tour to the 2,447 meter high Schafsiedel is one of the impressive mountain hikes in the Hohe Salve region. From Gasthof Wegscheid in Kurzen Grund, the path leads over the Neue Bamberger Hütte and past the three Wildalm lakes up to the summit. The long, but technically not very demanding route mainly requires stamina and rewards with wide views over the surrounding mountain world.

It is precisely the combination of continuous ascent, alpine landscape and the three mountain lakes makes the tour a strong endurance session in nature. On the way back, the Wildalm lakes offer a welcome opportunity for a short refreshment; those who still have reserves can extend the tour with a detour to the Aleitenspitze.

Highlight: three Wildalm lakes, 1,280 meters of ascent and a panoramic summit – ideal for all who endurance, nature and personal challenge want to combine.

MODERATE | 10.3 KM | APPROX. 3:30 H

From Wörgl, the circular hike first leads up a pleasantly ascending forest path through the forest to the Möslalm. Those who want to go further can reach the Möslalmkogel with summit cross and wide views over the Inn Valley.

The combination of steady ascent, alpine hut stop and additional summit destination makes the tour particularly versatile. Depending on your daily fitness, it can be flexibly designed and thus fits well with the Move & Relax concept: challenging enough for a training stimulus, yet with space for breaks and views.

Highlight: Alpine hut stop, summit cross and panoramic circular hike with 580 meters of altitude.

MODERATE | 13.9 KM | APPROX. 6:30 H | 1,146 HM

From the historically rich Tiefentalalm in Langen Grund the tour leads over mountain meadows, wild streams and past the Oberkaralm and Öfeleralm up to the 2,494 meter high Torhelm. The last meters become more alpine and stony – at the summit, an impressive view towards the Zillertal Alps opens up.

Those who still have reserves can extend the way back via the Regenfeldalm and complete the tour with small mountain lakes and additional nature moments.

Highlight: long endurance session, varied terrain and wide panoramic views – ideal for all who sporting challenge and alpine tranquility want to combine.
